Rene Descartes and an argument…

“Dubito ergo cogito; cogito ergo sum.(I doubt, therefore I think; I think therefore I am)” Rene Descartes quote.
A couple of friends and I were sitting around talking about a new author one is reading (Eckhart Tolle) which led to a discussion on great philosophers which in turn brought us to Rene Descartes. His famous quote “Dubito ergo cogito; cogito ergo sum.(I doubt, therefore I think; I think therefore I am)” was the topic of discussion. One person in the group stated that it was a misquote he said it should be “I am, therefore I think.” Any takers? I am most curious.
